A fine Nayarit 'shaft tomb' human effigy figure in the Ixtan del Rio variant. The statue depicts a rasp playing musician holding a tortoise shell in the left hand and, what appears to be an antler or a bone in the other. Nazca polychrome dual spouted water bottle in a slightly larger size than the norm. Painted in various original pigments depicting a zoomorph figure with talons carrying two human trophy heads and a conjoined shark or reptilian deity. A red painted Colima dog from Western Mexico. The pottery effigy stands on four pointed legs with a fat belly, cream colored head, and covered in strong ancient mineral deposits. This image is in excellent, solid condition with only minor matching repair to losses at the spout and appears intact. The underside belly retains vintage pencil writing in cursive of 'Leosla'(?),  or maybe 'Elcosta', which would be 'the coast' and '$50'. (View additional photos)

This example has a beautiful and finely modeled face with a head cover featuring a plume and a serpent motif. The fragment would have been a molded piece attached to a mold made body and are frequently found separated. The head is intact with the neck reconstructed from original pieces. An unusual Chavin Mace with a saucer-like midsection and flaring ends. The cream stone carving would have been a ceremonial offering rather than one used in battle and retains ancient encrustations and mineral deposits.
